Neighborhood information> Heliopolis

"Heliopolis" and "Masr El Gedida" meaning new Egypt are two names said on reference to Cairo's largest neighborhood. The neighborhood formally referred to as "The Oasis" was built in 1906 nine kilometers north of Cairo City center. Heliopolis was built by the Belgian Baron Empain who also built the Basilique church and "Hindu folly" referring to the beautiful palace on the airport road also referred to as "Kasr El Baron" or the haunted "Kasr El Baron".
